American sparkling wine follows market-driven sweet trend

American sparkling-wine producers are honing their offerings to meet market demand for a sweeter sip, releasing progressively sweeter wines that no longer include the "brut" label designation. Many producers are also providing customers with more information about their products, including disgorgement dates, which denote the wine's vintage and how long it has aged since being corked.
