Autoimmune, type 2 diabetes patients show similar death risk

Norwegian and Swedish researchers found patients with adult-onset autoimmune diabetes had lower rates of metabolic syndrome and central obesity and lower triglyceride levels than those with type 2 diabetes. However, mortality risk appeared to be equally as high in both diabetes groups compared with those who did not have diabetes, researchers noted. The findings appear in Diabetes Care.
