Burger King books big profit gains after selling units

Burger King booked third-quarter net income of $68.2 million, up from $6.6 million in the same quarter a year ago, largely as a result of the sale of 500 units to franchisees in the past year. Expenses fell 90% as a result of the sales, according to the chain, which reported a 3.7% same-store sales rise in the Asia-Pacific region while sales lagged in the U.S., Canada and parts of Europe.
