Confectionery sees growth in stand-up pouches

Stand-up pouches, with or without zip-close tops, are one the fastest growing types of packaging in the confectionery market, according to research from the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies. Mars will introduce bite size versions of 3 Musketeers, MilkyWay and Twix packaged in resealable stand-up pouches. "A lot of the standard pouches have reclose zippers so not only is it easier for the consumer, but it also extends the shelf life of the product," said Mark Brogan, director of technology and innovation for Printpack.
