Defense profits strong, but sequester hit coming

It's been harder for the defense industry to make a case that sequestration is damaging given their recent strong earnings reports, some experts say, but that's because the companies have cut their way to profitability and are still recording profits from stronger periods. But that can't last, says Marion Blakey, president and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association. Defense analyst Loren Thompson agreed. "Nobody expects the defense industry is going to be as profitable in five years as it is today if the current reduction continues," he said.
