Edible oils chief indicted; counterfeit oils must be destroyed

Kao Chen-li, chairman of the Taiwanese edible oil manufacturer embroiled in a counterfeiting and mislabeling scandal, has been indicted and faces steep fines for his company's alleged violation of both criminal and food safety codes. Counterfeit oils produced by Chang Chi Foodstuff must be destroyed according to Taiwanese law, while some of the other products may be reused if their labels are changed to reflect previously unlisted ingredients.
