Medicare EHR program released $3.5B for incentives in 2012

A report released by the Government Accountability Office found the proportion of all eligible acute-care hospitals in the Medicare EHR program that were given payments increased to 48% last year from 16% in 2011. The GAO also said the highest incentive given to an eligible hospital was more than $4.7 million, while the lowest payment was $4,827. The total EHR incentives provided by Medicare to hospitals in 2012 reached $3.5 billion.
