New Philadelphia law contains trans protection, pro-LGBT measures

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter signed legislation Thursday that will require all new or renovated city-owned buildings to have gender-neutral restrooms in addition to facilities specifically for females and males. The law also updates the city's antidiscrimination protections to include transgender residents and sets tax credits for companies with pro-LGBT benefits policies. "My goal is for Philadelphia to be one of, if not the most, LGBT-friendly cities in the world and a leader on equality issues," Nutter said.
