Ohio school's fabrication lab takes classroom lessons to new dimension

Students enrolled at Reynoldsburg High School's eSTEM Academy in Ohio are able to let their imaginations run wild in fabrication laboratories equipped with 3D printers and other technology -- building everything from a computer desk to a medieval catapult using computer-assisted design. Educators say the "fab lab" helps students apply academic lessons at a deeper level. "These kids are doing projects within social studies and science ... that are related to the curriculum," said Thomie Timmons, a visual-arts teacher who runs the school's lab.
