Prudential, MetLife survived hard times to stay in annuity business

Many players decided to get out of the annuity business after the financial crisis hit, but Prudential and MetLife survived the hard times and made the sometimes-difficult changes necessary to remain important forces in the industry. "We're proving as an industry and at Prudential that regardless of capital markets, equity or interest rates, we can create products that work in balance for the consumer, advisor and our shareholders," said Bruce Ferris, head of sales, distribution, product and marketing with Prudential Annuities.
