Study: Sleep device plus left-side position reduce acid reflux

People who used a sleep-assist device and slept in an elevated position on their left side experienced less esophageal acid exposure than those who slept in other positions or who did not use the device, Medical University of South Carolina researchers reported at the ACG Annual Scientific Meeting. Study author Dr. Erik Person said patients who sleep right-side down experience the most acid reflux even if their head is elevated.
