Teacher: Gaming improves basic math skills for Tenn. 5th-graders

Culleoka, Tenn., fifth-grade teacher Janice Greene is using the online math gaming website Sumdog.com to improve her students' math skills. By competing in the online games, students have improved their "mental math" and increased their engagement with the subject, Greene says. While they are playing, Greene can monitor their progress and see which skills students have mastered or are struggling to perform.
