U.S. dollar weakness saps hopes for Japan market surge

Extended weakness in the U.S. dollar is apparently laying to rest hopes for a second surge in the Japanese stock market based on a declining yen. "The whole weak-yen, strong-stock market trading model which had been counted on to fuel higher and higher stock prices has unwound," said Daisuke Uno a strategist at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking. The hope now is that corporate results will lift the market.
