Advocates: U.S. must speed up EHR adoption

Health advocates say EHRs are not being adopted quickly enough in the U.S., and providers are still making errors that affect tens of thousands of patients each year. One industry expert speaking at an e-health forum sponsored by the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation and the Health IT Now! Coalition urged Congress to pass legislation requiring providers to report error rates and to create a law that would require providers to pay for any care related to mistakes made on patients.
