San Francisco port strikes deal to entice cruise ships

The Port of San Francisco has entered an agreement with BAE Systems San Francisco Ship Repair to pay for dredging and structural reinforcements to clear the way for Pier 70 to accept the largest cruise ships in the world. The move would make San Francisco's repair facility the only one on the West Coast that can accept the giant ocean liners. "It will add to our competitive situation in terms of what we sell to the cruise lines," a port official said.
