Wichita transplant program may not meet federal requirements

If the Via Christi Regional Medical Center's organ transplant program does not meet new federal requirements, it may lose payment for some of its transplants. CMS requires that transplant programs perform a minimum of 10 transplants per year and that a certain percentage of patients are alive one year after receiving transplants. Via Christi currently does not meet the required success level for kidney transplant patients or the required number of heart transplants.
