Abu Dhabi to build $3B carbon capture and storage project

Abu Dhabi plans to finish a $3 billion carbon capture and storage project by 2013. The project, currently in the front-end engineering and design stage, will collect carbon dioxide from across the United Arab Emirates and inject it into oil fields to enhance recovery. "Every ton of carbon dioxide injected can lead to an extra 2.5 to 3 barrels of oil," said David Binnie, general manager of project developer Hydrogen Energy.
