Carriers seek more routes to Brazil

Despite deep cuts in service on many routes, U.S. carriers appear eager to add flights to Brazil. Continental Airlines has asked the Transportation Department for permission to operate daily, year-round flights between Houston and Rio de Janeiro, while Delta Air Lines and American Airlines are both seeking to take over unrestricted Brazil frequencies currently assigned to United Airlines.
