Great Lakes could offer offshore wind generation

State and federal officials are looking at the Great Lakes for offshore wind generation, but first want to study the impact of wind turbines on the environment. According to a study by Michigan State University, wind power from the Great Lakes could provide up to 322,000 megawatts of power. "Renewable energy is the direction we want to go, but you don't want to enter it blindly," said Jennifer Nalbone, navigation and invasive species director for the advocacy group Great Lakes United.
