New St. Louis superintendent accustomed to challenges

Kelvin Adams, chief of staff to the New Orleans Recovery School District's superintendent, faces a variety of challenges when he begins next week as the seventh St. Louis superintendent since 2003, but Adams says he is accustomed to confronting the challenges associated with raising student achievement. Since Missouri took over the troubled St. Louis schools in March 2007, enrollment has plummeted from 36,000 to 27,000.
