Sri Lanka rebels bomb military installation in nation's capital

The rebel Tamil Tigers used light aircraft to attack a military camp in Colombo, the southern capital of Sri Lanka, as well as a power station just outside the city, killing one person. At the same time, the army pushed forward in an offensive in the country's northern jungle. In response, government forces pushed deep into northern territory considered to be the rebels' stronghold.
