Companies are limited in citing security to thwart safety inquiry

President Barack Obama on Wednesday signed into law a measure that prevents chemical companies from improperly designating information as security-sensitive to hinder public-safety investigations. The law, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security appropriation bill, also enables communities to gain access to important information during industrial accidents, lawmakers said.
