Drug crackdown delays pain meds for nursing home patients

Increased enforcement of the Controlled Substances Act has made it more difficult for physicians and nurses to get nursing home and hospice patients narcotic pain medication, according to two Democratic senators, pharmacists and geriatric experts. The lawmakers asked U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. to issue new directives to federal agents and to support a possible legislative solution.
