Extra sleep on weekends may help children stay slim

A study in Pediatrics found children who got fewer than eight hours of sleep tended to weigh more but allowing them to make up for it by sleeping late on weekends and holidays could help keep the pounds off. Researchers said data showed overweight children did not get as much sleep on weekends and holidays as their thinner peers.
