New college-enrollment record set in 2008

College enrollment hit a record in 2008, mainly due to an increase in the popularity of two-year community colleges, according to a report by the Pew Research Center. The data also showed that student dropout rates are down while high-school graduation rates are up, nationwide. "What's behind this," the report's author noted, "is that we have the biggest pool of young adults we've ever had who've finished high school."
