New parking lot could solve pavement problems

Pavement causes plenty of problems, with water runoff channeling pollutants directly into groundwater. Now the EPA hopes to find a solution: it's replaced a 43,000-square-foot section of a New Jersey parking lot with three types of experimental paving. "This study will help us develop strategies to lessen the environmental impacts of parking lots across the country," says regional administrator George Pavlou.
