Small benefit seen in prophylactics to prevent UTIs

An Australian study found 13% of children given prophylactic therapy to prevent recurrent urinary tract infections developed a UTI, compared with 19% of those given a placebo. One researcher said even though the benefit of giving children prone to recurrent UTIs prophylactics was small, it outweighed the potential risks.
