High-yield bond sales set a record for October

Credit rating agencies lifted ratings on more borrowers than they downgraded as sales of high-yield bonds reached a record high this month. Meanwhile, mortgage bonds backed by the government outpaced Treasurys by the most in at least a decade. Market participants said the high-yield bond rally is strong enough to continue into next year.
