Report: U.S. sees increase in the use of radiation therapy

The U.S. saw a 15% increase in the number of patients undergoing radiation treatments in 2009 compared with 2007, according to a report from IMV Medical Information Division. Digital imaging has also been used in treatment planning and management. "[N]early all (98%) of the radiation therapy treatment plans use CT images, 12% use MRI and 8% use PET images," an IMV official said.
