Southwest announces $5 introductory Wi-Fi fee

Southwest Airlines plans to charge $5 per flight for Wi-Fi access as it rolls out the satellite-based service throughout its fleet of 346 737-700 aircraft. The flat fee -- which differs from the sliding scale at most airlines -- is seen as an introductory offer, though Southwest says it will "stay the same at least for two years" until all planes have been equipped for Wi-Fi service.
