Economy awaits Hurricane Sandy's impact

Dow Chemical is among many companies closing industrial sites ahead of Hurricane Sandy, which could bring economic damage that "cannot be underestimated," said Elsa Lignos of RBC Europe. "In an economy that is struggling to maintain traction in the wake of concerns about the fiscal cliff and events in Europe, the impact on [economic] output is likely to weigh on the recent recovery in economic data seen in the past few weeks," said Michael Hewson of CMC Markets.
