Location intelligence can be defined in three market segments, including analytics, data management and visualization, Joe Francica writes. Analytics includes spatial statistics and map algebra to produce information for specific applications, while visualization is about creating dashboards that make location information easier to understand in graphical form. Data management encompasses both by weeding out the unnecessary data from the necessary to make analysis and visualization effective, he writes.
