Twitter has spent well over half a billion dollars on research and development since 2010, and it currently spends 52% of its total revenue on research. However, the company doesn't have much to show for its R&D efforts, Stephen Gandel writes, and some experts are wondering whether the company's expensive innovation habit might prove to be a strategic weakness.
