GM touts a German brand in Russia, sidelining Chevy

General Motors' push to make Chevy its global brand has hit a speed bump in Russia, where the company is putting more of a focus on its German Opel brand. GM wants to avoid pitting Chevy and Opel directly against each other, and Opel won out because of Russian excitement over its new Mokka sport-utility vehicle. "We are going to assess Chevrolet, not only how it is priced but what content is offered and how it is positioned," said GM CEO Dan Akerson.
