Halloween candy stats reveal consumer behavior

Americans will spend nearly $2.4 million on Halloween candy this year, and chocolate ranks as the favorite for 72%, according to the NCA. Candy corn came in a distant second at 12%, and gummies, chewy and hard candy, lollipops, licorice, gum and mints all combined for only 16%. Seventy-four percent of households plan to hand out candy this year, of which 72% say they will give two or three pieces per trick-or-treater, this article says.
