Independent stores thriving on old favorites

Independent retailers, both bricks-and-mortar and online outlets, are finding a market for old-fashioned favorites. Take Mary Rodgers, who has owned the three-year-old store Moxie's, which is modeled after some of her favorite after-school haunts such as a drug store and ice cream parlor. Don Bridge, owner of, which recently moved to a 8,400-square-foot warehouse, said "we're selling memories."
