IRS issues FATCA guidance

The Internal Revenue Service on Tuesday issued guidance for foreign financial institutions that are required to report information and withhold tax on certain payments under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act. The guidance outlines changes to the regulations that the IRS intends to make and describes procedures for foreign financial institutions to register with the IRS.
