Seek veterinarian's help for overweight pets

Overweight pets need help from a veterinarian who can assess their weight and provide recommendations for diet and exercise. Additionally, owners can reduce treats and exercise with their pets. It's also important to be careful when feeding more than one pet, particularly in multi-cat households. Veterinarian Ernie Ward, founder of the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, suggests putting some space between cat bowls at feeding time or even feeding cats in separate rooms to prevent one from getting all the food.
