Veterinarian rescues mistreated dog in heart-wrenching story

An anemic, lethargic, whipworm-infested Maltese stumbled onto veterinarian Brenda Gough's farm and into healing arms. Dr. Gough and her staff shaved off pounds of matted, feces-encrusted fur and provided medical treatment and supportive care for the dog, who Dr. Gough believes came from a puppy mill. The story of the dog, now named Shrek, and his rescue has spread around the world.
