An Anniston Star editorial criticizes the Alabama Republican Party for playing "the homophobia card" in trying to link out candidate Patricia Todd, who is slated to become the Legislature's first openly gay representative, to conservative Democrat Lea Fite when the two haven't even met. "Reasonable GOPers can do their party and their state a service by pulling their homophobic colleagues back from the brink of gay-bashing," The Star writes.
