AdvaMed asks Congress to pursue ICD-10 adoption

AdvaMed and two other industry associations have sent a letter to Congress saying it should act on an HHS proposal to replace the ICD-9 code set with the ICD-10 diagnosis and coding system by 2011. The groups said the ICD-9 system does not offer "the increased level of detail required to support emerging needs," such as quality reporting and biosurveillance.
