Asian markets soar as central banks cut rates, boost liquidity

Markets throughout Asia jumped today as rate cuts and other moves by central banks prompted investors to go on a buying spree. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index roared up 12.8%, Tokyo's Nikkei 225 Average soared 10% and the broader Topix index advanced 8.3%. South Korea's Kospi jumped 12%, Singapore's Straits Times climbed 7.8% and Taiwan's Taiex gained 6.3%. China's Shanghai Composite increased 2.6%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gained 4% and New Zealand's NZX 50 inched up 0.6%.
