IMF to loan as much as $100 billion to emerging economies

The International Monetary Fund created a fund of as much as $100 billion to provide novel, three-month loans to assist developing nations. The loans are intended for countries hardest hit by the financial crisis but fundamentally sound -- such as Brazil, Mexico and Korea -- and thus will not require policy and structural overhauls that the IMF strictly required in the past.
