School's mock election faced resistance

One Virginia teacher said some teachers and administrators were resistant to holding a mock election at their school, but Laura Reasoner Jones, a School-Based Technology Specialist, says teaching students about the democratic process was a worthwhile temporary detour from the standard curriculum. Jones said that her students were already interested in the presidential election, and offering them the chance to become engaged in national issues would only enhance their education.
