Student says teacher made a difference

An Indianapolis teacher who is one of 94 secondary-school teachers to receive the Butler University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Teacher Excellence Award was thanked by a student in a nomination letter for making the extra effort to engage students in the lessons. "Mrs. [Mary] Grabianowski was, I think, one of the most fun teachers I ever had," wrote Adie Baez, a recent graduate. "She made the subjects [AP economics and U.S. government] interesting even with the driest texts I have ever read. She always knew the answer to all my questions."
