Study unravels how gene causes some learning disabilities

Research on mice has helped scientists discover the mechanics of how a gene causes some learning disabilities. The mechanism may also be tied to mental retardation caused by Down syndrome and other disorders. "We are at the beginning of a wonderful journey into how the human mind works," said researcher Alcino Silva of the University of California, Los Angeles.
