Despite passenger popularity, A380 remains a problem for Airbus

A wealth of customization options for the Airbus A380 may be helping airlines earn more revenue per passenger, but it's causing delays and cost overruns for the plane's manufacturer. Airbus CEO Thomas Enders says customization is "a big challenge," with some airlines choosing showers, private cabins and lounges to fill the plane's generous space. "It's definitely an attractive flagship for airlines," said Richard Aboulafia of the Teal Group. "But it will never be the mainstay of anyone's fleet."
