Occupy Portland improves on fire safety, say officials

Fire and rescue officials in Portland, Ore., went to the Occupy Portland encampment and gave demonstrations of fire-safety measures and tips on preparing for the cold weather. Damon Simmons and Nate Takara of Portland Fire & Rescue handed out pamphlets and coordinated with the movement's organizers for a tour around Lownsdale and Chapman squares, seeing some improvements from their last visit. "I'm really impressed by the changes they've made. Everything we've asked, they've worked to make it happen," said Simmons.
