ARM to take advantage of microserver trend with 64-bit IC designs

ARM Holdings has a new line of 64-bit processor designs that could go into low-power microservers in the near future. ARM CEO Warren East predicted that such ARM-based servers could represent one-fifth of the servers in the average data center by 2020. The company is introducing its 64-bit Cortex-A53 and Cortex-A57 processor cores, which will be implemented in processors made with 20-nanometer features.
