Educator promotes geographic literacy

Kay Gandy, an associate professor at Western Kentucky University, is on a mission to make sure students understand the importance of geography. Along with geography instructor Scott Dobler, Gandy runs the Kentucky Geographic Alliance, which was recently awarded a grant by the National Geographic Education Foundation. It will use the money to fund the development of an atlas of Kentucky and to instruct teachers about how to raise money for geography programs.
